1. General Conduct

Students must:

  • Hold a valid driver’s licence or learner licence appropriate for the class of vehicle being used.
  • Carry their licence at all times during lessons.
  • Arrive on time for scheduled lessons.
  • Follow all instructor directions and comply with all road rules at all times.
  • Not attend lessons while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that may impair their ability to drive safely.

Accelerated Academy reserves the right to postpone, terminate, or refuse a lesson where a student’s behaviour, condition, or circumstances create an unsafe, unsuitable, or uncomfortable learning environment.

2. Lesson Payments & Bookings

  • Payment for lessons must be made in full at the time of booking unless another arrangement has been agreed.
  • Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson time.
  • Cancellations made within 24 hours of the lesson may incur a cancellation fee equal to the full cost of the booked lesson.

3. Vehicle Use & Responsibility

  • Accelerated Academy driving school vehicles are registered, maintained to a high safety standard, and insured for driver training purposes.
  • Students must operate the vehicle in a safe, responsible, and lawful manner at all times.
  • Students must follow all instructions provided by the instructor, including directions relating to vehicle control and road safety.

Any reckless or dangerous driving, refusal to follow instructor directions, or wilful misuse of the vehicle may result in the immediate termination of the lesson without refund.

4. Accidents & Insurance

Accelerated Academy maintains appropriate insurance coverage, including:

  • Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance for our training vehicles.
  • Public Liability Insurance.
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance.

In the event of an accident or incident during a lesson, the instructor will take appropriate steps to ensure the safety of all parties and comply with any required legal and insurance procedures.

Accelerated Academy will manage the insurance claim process and coordinate any required communication with insurers.

Where an accident occurs during a lesson, the standard insurance process will apply. However, if the accident is determined to have resulted from serious misconduct, reckless behaviour, or a deliberate breach of safety instructions by the student, the student (or parent/guardian if the student is under 18) will be responsible for the insurance excess.

Insurance Excess Amount: $1,000.00

Examples of serious misconduct include, but are not limited to:

  • Intentionally crashing or deliberately causing damage to the vehicle.
  • Deliberately ignoring instructor directions or safety instructions.
  • Driving aggressively or engaging in unsafe driving behaviour.
  • Using the vehicle outside the purpose of the scheduled driving lesson.
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs driving ability.

If damage is caused deliberately, the student may be liable for the full cost of repairs and any associated expenses.

5. Health, Learning & Safety Requirements

To help us provide safe, effective, and personalised driving instruction, students must advise Accelerated Academy of any medical conditions, injuries, learning needs, disabilities, or other circumstances that may affect their ability to learn or operate a vehicle safely.

This may include anything that affects:

  • Concentration or attention.
  • Processing information or following instructions.
  • Communication with the instructor.
  • Coordination, movement, or vehicle control.
  • Reaction time or decision-making while driving.

Students are encouraged to discuss any support needs with their instructor so lessons can be adjusted where appropriate to create a safe and effective learning environment.

Students must also:

  • Wear appropriate footwear suitable for driving (no thongs, slides, or high heels).
  • Wear a seatbelt at all times.
  • Advise the instructor of any illness, injury, medication, or circumstance that may affect their ability to drive safely.

6. Vehicle Cleanliness & Personal Hygiene

Accelerated Academy takes pride in maintaining a clean, comfortable, and professional learning environment for all students.

Our vehicles are cleaned regularly, and key contact areas including steering wheels, gear selectors, indicators, door handles, and other high-touch surfaces are sanitised between lessons.

Students are expected to assist in maintaining this environment by:

  • Arriving for lessons in clean and suitable clothing.
  • Maintaining good personal hygiene, including the use of deodorant where appropriate.
  • Avoiding strong perfumes, fragrances, smoke, or other odours that may impact the comfort of the instructor or other students.
  • Not bringing food, drinks (other than water in a secure bottle), or items that may create mess or damage within the vehicle.
  • Removing any rubbish or personal belongings at the completion of each lesson.

As driving lessons involve spending extended periods in a confined vehicle, these expectations help ensure a comfortable, respectful, and positive learning environment for both students and instructors.

7. Weather & Lesson Cancellations

Lessons may be postponed or cancelled where severe weather conditions or other circumstances are considered unsafe for driving instruction.

Where possible, cancelled lessons will be rescheduled at the earliest available opportunity.

8. Privacy

Personal information collected by Accelerated Academy is used for:

  • Lesson bookings and scheduling.
  • Communication regarding lessons.
  • Driver training requirements.
  • Legal, insurance, and regulatory obligations.

Personal information will not be shared with third parties without consent, except where required by law or necessary for insurance and safety purposes.

9. Acceptance of Terms

By booking and attending driving lessons with Accelerated Academy, students acknowledge and agree to comply with these Rules & Policies.

Students understand that safe driving practices, following instructor directions, maintaining a respectful environment, and providing accurate information are essential to ensuring a safe and effective learning experience.
